Roped into a double date, Carl is stuck with skinny, brace-faced Katie while his friend gets to make out with his dream girl. Katie convinces Carl to drive her up to the old, abandoned logging road where they can be alone, but just as they're about to leave, a bright light fills the sky, leaving behind a smoking crater in the woods, glowing with an unearthly pink light.

Carl has no idea what's out there, but he knows one thing: better to go out and investigate than to stay inside with Katie!
